What to give to Japanese for the New Year
In Japan it is impossible to give for the New Year
(these were my first ideas, which were immediately rejected):
You can not give the rake – the ritual wreath that hung on the front door of every Japanese home.
Many Japanese told me that they have no tradition to give presents for the New Year. Well, you can give something without a specific topic, but not necessarily. Simvolicheskie gifts some in Japan give employees, neighbors, relatives. See photos from new year’s Japanese stores, what the Japanese give gifts for the New year .
And yet I found a solution.
Before the New Year, every Japanese home on the table or tokonoma put special ritual food – Kagami mochi (sounds like `urine`) for happiness and a harvest year. Made from special mochi sticky rice and sold in any supermarket, the store is `100 yen`, of course these factory mass consumption products not fit for gift. But if you make the mochi themselves (which is pretty hard) – it will be a perfectly acceptable gift for the Japanese.
Also in Japan there are many shops producing mochi in the old style, manually. They are not cheap, and if you have a fairly close relationship to the family, where you want to make Continue reading
How to bargain at the Eastern market. Features recreation and shopping in Asia
Among domestic tourists who prefer to visit countries in Asia, especially popular is the Oriental Bazaar. For some, the Bazaar is an opportunity to buy affordable presents and gifts to friends and relatives, for others it’s a source of unique experiences. What to bargain with the local sellers makes almost no sense, you know only when they get to this anthill, teeming with merchants. They are true masters, they understand at a glance, how much the potential buyer has money ready to spend, will buy or will not buy the buyer not the highest quality product, will purchase more expensive the sample, etc.
Under Bazaar you should understand private retail outlets and large markets of the Middle East, northeast, Southeast and South Asia.
Shopping is particularly developed in countries of the East like the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Thailand, China, Indonesia. Tourists who are planning a trip to Asia. always strive to bring back Souvenirs or those products that are considered exotic in our latitudes. After all, every Eastern country is something you can surprise your friends on arrival home! But here’s how to buy as many gifts, do not fall for the bait of crafty vendors, and not overpaying through the nose? And so, having Continue reading
We met a wonderful guy, Repair, guide tour groups in Egypt, exchanged contacts and ask around about the peculiarities of Egypt, about the country and customs.
First found out about the hijab. As it turned out, not all women wear closed clothes, all depends on the person, and it’s not so much the husband decides, as I thought before, but the woman. Depends on the specific family. We also asked how the local react to provocatively-dressed visitors – all different, as Egypt is inhabited by different people, and the attitude is different. In resort towns exactly all accustomed. Bedouins from the desert, of course, do not share this seksen revolution.
Of course we were interested to know about such a feature of Egypt as a harem. The Egyptian is allowed to have several wives, nationality is not important but rarely does that, because it’s expensive. As they say the Arabs, why do you have four problems, when it only takes one. Divorce is allowed, but not frequent, because the most important for life in Egypt is the respect of neighbors and friends, so just don’t change partners, reputation is more important.
Now about the other features of Egypt. The first thing that struck me was the sand around. Not just Continue reading
